I’m always rushing in the morning, and usually skip breakfast. A shot of espresso with milk and ice goes a long way.
But when I do decide to have breakfast, it should be healthy, tasty, satisfying, and QUICK.
Today I was actually able to get out of bed without hitting snooze (secrets revealed! Don’t tell anyone!), and that lead to Davening before most of the kids got up.
Taking care of myself physically was the next step, after taking care spiritually.
So, along with my second cup of iced coffee, I threw together this yogurt and fruit concoction.
Classic Israeli Healthy Yogurt Breakfast
[checklist icon=”fa-check” circle=”no” size=”small” class=”” id=””]
- Unsweetened yogurt
- Whatever fruit is lying around threatening to go bad
- A sprinkle or two of chia seeds (ground flax works too)
- Handful of nuts (hazelnuts this time)
- Spoonful of honey (date syrup works too)
- Spoonful of almond butter
- Some frozen cranberries (cuz they were on sale, two for one, at Rami Levi)
[/checklist]
The great thing about this breakfast, asides from being delicious and energy packed, is that it’s easy to make in the office as well. Before I was on maternity leave I’d take a fruit or two, a yogurt, and a bag filled with nuts/granola/seeds/oats/whatever and assemble and munch in front of my computer.
May it be a sweet happy and healthy year for all filled with love of life, chayus and simchas chayim!
