Ever been camping with a group of friends that just so magically turns into a harmonious family? Where the air is so pure that each breath feels like a spurt of energy and joy? Ever experienced a night under the stars that left you feeling a deep love for God’s world that you just need to share with the world?
That’s camping with Ohr Chabad.
Yesterday, the Ohr Chabad Seed Group families, together with some great friends, went on an incredible camping trip right at the site where Ohr Chabad is about to be built. We brought everything in tow: tents, grills, sleeping bags, Tallis and tefillin, and enough food to feed an army.
The BBQ tent went up, and our grill masters got to work, pretty soon two tables were overloaded and flowing with every kind of BBQ goodness.
To kick off the night, Rabbi Dovid Eliezrie gave an inspiring talk about building a bridge across Israeli society, and the mission the Rebbe gave to every Chabadnik in Israel.
We also had our very first Bat Mitzvah celebration in Ohr Chabad! The women and girls gathered around Tehila Farin, who gave a beautiful Bat Mitzvah speech, and then shared a delicious cake and desserts with everyone around.Â
Two bonfires were lit, and the women and men each held a bonfire kumzitz all through the night, with singing, stories, and laughter.
In the morning, we woke up to the most beautiful breeze and stunning view. An impromptu shul was set up, for scenic morning prayers, and then a breakfast kitchen served eggs, salad, and cakes.
Then we packed up, and went off for a beautiful hike of our future home.
